UK FTA: WHM cap increase to 35; LMT likely exempt; agricultural visa coming

An Australian-UK free trade agreement confirms the age cap for UK nationals lifted to 35 for working holiday visas. There are also likely to be other benefits including exemptions to labour market testing for 482 visas and perhaps an easier pathway to skill assessments for GSM visas. A dedicated agricultural visa was also announced.

From 20 January 2021 international graduates will be able to apply for a second Subclass 485 - Temporary Graduate visa under the Post-Study stream. Two important instruments were amended to account for shutdown periods and leave caused by the coronavirus pandemic to not disadvantage sponsored workers who would otherwise be eligible to apply for a Subclass 186 – Employer Nomination Scheme visa or Subclass 187 – Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme visas under the Temporary Residence Transition stream.
