Two important instruments were amended to account for shutdown periods and leave caused by the coronavirus pandemic to not disadvantage sponsored workers who would otherwise be eligible to apply for a Subclass 186 – Employer Nomination Scheme visa or Subclass 187 – Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme visas under the Temporary Residence Transition stream.

Former working holiday makers (417 visa and 462 visa holders) who have undertaken work as the holder of a 408 visa due to COVID-19 can use this work towards either a second or third working holiday visa for any WHM visa application lodged from 14 December 2020. Additionally, the offshore Subclass 124 – Distinguished Talent visa has been repealed.
